Food and Nutrition Specialist in MK

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and knowledgeable individuals from the culinary or nutrition field who are interested in transitioning into teaching. As a Food and Nutrition Specialist in MK, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise and passion for safe food preparation, nutrition, and healthy eating habits with children. This is a temporary position with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs.

– Minimum of 3 months of recent experience working with children in the last 5 years.
– Possession of an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one before starting the role).
– Commitment to working hours of 08:30-15:30, Monday to Friday (no weekends).
– Excellent knowledge of safe food preparation practices and food hygiene regulations.
– Strong understanding of nutrition and nutritive components, including macro and micro nutrients.
– Ability to effectively lead a class/group of students and create a positive and engaging learning environment.
– Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and effectively convey information.
– Demonstrated ability to maintain good classroom control and ensure student safety.
– Passion for educating children about food, nutrition, and healthy eating habits.

– Deliver engaging and educational lessons on safe food preparation, nutrition, and the importance of a balanced and healthy diet.
– Develop and implement age-appropriate activities and demonstrations that promote understanding of nutritive components, such as macro and micro nutrients.
– Teach students about food safety practices, including proper handling, storage, and cooking techniques.
– Provide guidance and support to students in making informed choices about their food and nutrition, promoting healthy eating habits.
– Lead classes/groups effectively, ensuring students are actively engaged, participating, and following safety protocols.
– Build rapport with students, establish positive relationships, and effectively communicate with them to provide feedback and guidance.
– Maintain good classroom control, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.
– Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to integrate food and nutrition education into cross-curricular projects or events.
